MGMT, Passion Pit, and Miike Snow have all had their songs remixed. What’s also cool is that they do remixes of other artists as well! The very order I listed the groups in is also (coincidentally) the order I discovered them in! These three are among the top artists to be remixed/covered in the current indie blogosphere, and I’d like to share some with everyone today.
First off: MGMT. Electro indie group based from Brooklyn, their name is based off of the word Management, although no one calls them that anymore… except in Brooklyn. Perhaps you’ve heard of them.. perhaps not. Rosanna did post their “wtf” music video for Flash Delirium, so if you haven’t seen that, you might want to check it out. Priscilla Ahn (Finally...I give in)
HI. I’M MICHAEL AND THIS IS MY JAM.
This girl.. this girl can sing. And when I say sing, I mean sing quite well. And by quite well, I mean one of the most clear and pure voices I have ever heard. Priscilla sings in tune, and it flows sweetly off her tongue like honey. Here’s a little background for those who do not know: Priscilla Ahn is a half Korean and half Caucasian indie singer & ranks well into my top 10 artists.
Needless to say, I love her personality too, from what I’ve seen. (I do occasionally visit her blog as well.. ^^;) After all this listening and following.. I have recently (in the past two months or so) come to the conclusion that if.. if I could choose what kind of girl I’d end up in life, it’d be a girl with her personality. It’s just a sweet and quirky, yet chill kind of personality!
I’m sorry, but I seriously just hyped up Priscilla Ahn x10 for all of you who are new to her. I hope you don’t get disappointed…

The New $100 Bill.
Treasury officials have unveiled the new 100 dollar bill at a news conference at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The first redesign was in 1996, since its first bill that came out in 1928. That version of the bill consisted of watermarks as its primary anti-counterfeiting tool. The new $100 bill is way more than just an some watermarks. It features a security thread that contains a micro-printed mobile image when moved side to side, appears to move up and down, and when moved up and down, appears to move side to side. This new bill will go into circulation next year.

Basically it’s something about luxury brands, like the Swiss watchmaker Omega, appealing to the courts about having the right to control who buys their products in the grey market. The grey market where secondary sellers buy luxury brands at a large discount. I think it’s pretty crazy to find out that Costco even occasionally sells these luxury brands. It’s kind of ironic? Don’t you think? Costco selling Chanel? Haha WOW! Personally, I haven’t seen these bags sold at Costco, but now I guess I’ll be looking around to see if these bags are sold!

As texting has become the most popular means of communication today, it’s no wonder that so many have used this technological approach to having an affair, breaking up with a significant other, or sending sexual innuendos over the internet.

French Indie.. this is what excites me.
Coeur de Pirate has really made a name for herself in the relatively small subgenre of French Indie (but maybe you’ve heard of SoKo?), but there are already great remixes of her songs circulating about. Yeayuuh, I love a good song, but I also love a good remix.

The LK is 2 Swedish dudes, Lindefelt and Fredrik who make electronic indie rock music. They have some pretty unique sounds in their music. They themselves said “there’s no such thing as a finished LK song” because they’re constantly improvising on their songs, so all their live shows sound slightly different. Lindefelt has something called synesthesia, where your brain mixes things up, mostly sound and color together. Sweet. Sounds like drugsss. Their record is actually less electronic than it sounds. To get their sound, they piece together chunks of sound from the guitar, vocals, a couple of drums, and a few other sounds. “It’s not more electronic than your average country villain, but definitely scrambled and in the wrong order.” I have no idea where this band has been. They performed at SXSW in Austin in 2008 and I don’t know where they went after that. Their former official website doesn’t seem to exist anymore either.

At age 13, she had already invested in an 8-track mixer as well. She writes all her music. She's legit, quirky, and fun. She imagines herself on her own planet of electro-pop. Yeaaah :) Go read her myspace and you will understand what I said about quirky.

The good quality live stuff he has online is from a while back, and he was pretty off in his singing. bleh. Howeverr, I am in love with Adam Young's band. The guy playing marimba/keys/guitar is soo talented. Also, him and the drummer wore the same outfit and would switch between drums and marimba! I stared at them a lot. :)

One badass bike please Cannondale?
Cannondale’s OnBike not only sticks the front forks to one side ( offroad bikes have for a while) but also the gear box, balanced to the opposite side and is part of the frame, attaches the whole rear wheel on its own. It is machined from a single block of metal.
Cables are hidden inside the angular, aluminum frame and the SRAM i-MOTION 9-speed hub gear and chain are tucked safely inside a maintenance-free box. You can appreciate the disc brakes, Octopus pedals, and Schwalbe Kojak Bad Boy tires. Then, there’s the price… $6,500!!!

Rumor has it that Nikon could have three new models coming out soon! Damn, I should of waited for them but I got the D80, which is still a great camera! Thanks Amy! How to SAVE that fu*ked up Harddrive!
Ever had a hard drive crash on you and had all of your files, movies, porn, etc on that drive? Thought you were fu*ked? Yeah, you were. Jk jk jk. There is a 50% chance you could get it all back! Now, I’m not saying that it is a 50% chance all the time, but there’s definitely a chance for a 50% chance.
Here’s what you do. Put your hard drive in the freezer for 10-20 minutes. After that you’ll have a small window of time to move all of your stuff to another hard drive. I’ve done it at work two or three times before and it has worked! But yeah, don’t think that it can save you because it really depends on how bad the hard drive is. Good luck!
How to!
Remove the hard drive from the computer.
Place the hard drive inside of a Ziploc freezer bag. (Don’t buy a cheap bag.)
Place the wrapped hard drive inside of ANOTHER Ziploc freezer bag. (Yes, you need to do this) (see figure 1 below)
Place the double wrapped hard drive in the coldest part of your freezer.
Leave the hard drive in the freezer for 12 hours, at least. You want it good and cold! (see figure 2 below)
Once very chilled, install the hard drive in your computer and start pulling off data. Begin with the most valuable data.
At some point, the hard drive will fail again. When it does, mark the last successfully copied data, pull out the hard drive, double wrap it again and stick it in the Chill Chest for another 12 hours.
You may need to do this a number of times to get all the data you want, or until the hard drive stops working completely.

Wow, so yeah, the OS 4 for the iPhone. There are a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about it. Let’s start with all the bad things.
Bad Things List:
Doesn’t work and isn’t for the iPhone 2G!

No cool backgrounds for the 3G
No zoom in the camera for the 3G
So yeah, they’re limiting the old phones but thank God I have a 2G and a 3GS… so it’s all good.

Making Sriracha Chili Sauce From Scratch!
We’re all asian here on Rawcom, so let’s make some Sriracha Chili sauce from scratch! Lol. Let’s start off by getting all the stuff for it. You will need some materials, which are mentioned below in this post. Not that much stuff needed but yeah, it’s about to get hot in here!
Ok, so get everything on here:
1 pound red jalapenos or cayenne chiles 5 fresh Thai chiles 3 cloves garlic 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 teaspoons fish sauce 1/3 cup rice vinegar Water, as needed
Making the sauce!
1. Cut the stems from the chiles but leave the crown thing, and chop the chiles.
2. In a food processor, combine chopped chiles, garlic, salt, fish sauce and rice vinegar for 1 to 2 minutes until mixture is a rough purée.
3. Transfer the chile mixture to a glass bowl or jar. Cover with plastic wrap, and leave at room temperature for a few days, specifically until small bubbles have formed under the surface. If fuzzy mold forms on the top of the chile mixture (as it did in my case), remove with a spoon and discard.
4. Over high heat, bring mixture to a boil, then lower the heat. Simmer for a few minutes before removing from heat to cool.
5. Transfer chile mixture to a food processor, blending until smooth, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add water, if necessary, to mixture if it’s too thick.
6. If desired, put the sauce through a strainer to remove seeds from chile sauce.
7. Mixture will keep in the fridge for one month.
Now enjoy your home-made Sriracha Chili Sauce! Put it all over your food for an extra bit of spice! Enjoy!

New* Macbook Pro with Core i5 & i7
Well, the new Core i5 & i7 Macbook has finally come out! They’re the fastest processors on the market for laptops and also save battery life at the same time. They’re about 50% faster than the last gen. of Macbook pro’s and the Core i7 model being about the same speed as the iMac’s Core i7 processor. The graphics are new as well. The Nivida Geforce 330M has a huge bump in the graphics depo. Here are some bench marks.

I just discovered this band and I loooveeee them. Everytime I get this excited about a band, I do some intense music stalking. Here is what I've discovered! The band consists of 5 members who met in New York and formed the band in the summer of 2008. They like playing in the streets, subways, whatever. They were at SXSW 2010 this year! I wish I had discovered them earlier. Anyways, they all work together to form a well meshed sound using instruments that are not commonly in a band setting. Their most commonly used instruments are the drums, bass, guitar, harmonium, banjo, cello, glockenspiel, microkorg, jp-8000, waterphone, and bing carbon telephones. Yeeesss.. Half of these are like, wtf is that?
Harmonium: looks like a mini piano in a box.
Glockenspiel: is the xylophone type thing in the video.
Jp-8000: is a lovely synthesizer.
Microkorg: Synth/vocoder
Waterphone: I have no idea how to describe, so here is a picture.
Bing Carbon Telephones: Retro phone turned into microphone. sweet.

Well, the Mercedes SLS AMG is a beast! I love the classic version because it was well, umm…… Raw. It was the first time the gull wing doors were used. That’s why the car was called the Gull Wing! (Duhhh!) Anyway, this is the modern version of the car and it’s pretty cool everywhere you look except the butt LoL. Here is a trailer of the race version of the SLS AMG GT3.

He writes about things in his life either past or present. Legit. The third album was the first album that he wrote completely sober of alchohol and drugs, after battling with them for years. Who knows. Some of the best songs ever written were not soberly written. Pierre has the somewhat whiny poprock band voice, but I appreciate his attention to lyrics.

I heard that he is on the Stock LS430 Air Bag suspension and hacked the programming to lower the car. Shit, now that’s what you call “tuning the suspension.” You’ve got to love the Stance.

Some Fat Ass Wheels
They’re huge in the back! Eric from BRG told me that the wheels were originally just the flat black work Equips. I think 18inch by 9.5 or 10. The wheels then went badass when he got his custom barrels that made his rear 12 inches! Also, they are painted bronze/copper and the inside face is powder-coated flat black. Nice. And if you thought this Z was “all show and no go” then you will be fooled. Not only will the car break your neck when you pass it by, it will also break your neck for a second time when the power lab turbo kicks in and passes you up… Hands down, it’s just a clean ass car.

The downforce generated by the Group C racers is great enough, at 321,4 kilometers per hour, to drive upside down. So, I guess the next thing is to find a long ass tunnel to drive upsidedown in.

Eighth Inch: Yeah, it's a bike
Fixie, also known as Fixed Gear, is the new revolution to biking. As much of a sport this is, it also has become in a sense, a trend throughout all major cities, as youngsters in their mid 20’s discover new ends to a beginning.
I’m just getting into the sport of fixed gear bikes and I’m learning a lot. I came across this site called EighthInch.com. It has great deals on frame sets at an affordable price.
Riding Fixie is a statement and shedding your true colors is basically what your bike does for you. It expresses your inner spirit and passion towards life. People go to far extremes, building and tuning their fixed gear bikes up, which, in a nut shell, describes who that person really is. Taste, Color, and Design are all elements on how I see the Fixed Gear community growing. Damn, I can’t wait ‘til I get one! For now, I’m stuck on the good old BMX for now. lol

The world’s most expensive mouse isn’t all that good looking. Sure, it has diamonds in it and all, but damn, it just looks cheesy to me. Not worth the 26,730 dollars it costs.
A Fixie for everyone. No really!
Republic Bike is a company that makes Fixies for cheap and I mean cheap! They look good and easy, too because they have a flip hub. The hub is great because you can flip to one side and it turns into a fixie. The other side is a free wheel so you can just coast along. Your pick. The only negative side is that the seat is cheap and hard. The crank is a little too big for the bike, as in, you could hit the tire while turning. Also, the tires aren’t that good. The only place where you can get the Fixie is through Republic Bike. One thing I do like is that it is customizable. Check it out for yourself HERE.

In January 2009, she declared that she was quitting music because she was scared of the music industry. She seems to have stuck to her acting more than music though.

A sick single speed bike
The guys over at State Bicycle Co. are making good looking road/trick bikes. The bikes look very good for the price! $429 bucks isn’t that much to pay for a good looking urban ride to cruise around town in. I think I want one but only time will tell. Look at there site here.

The bass guitar part in this song is really fun to play :). M.C. the Max has a really confusing discography. Their Returns cd came out in 2 parts, and each part had two discs. Waaaaah T-T. M.C the Max is a Korean rock/ballad rock band. I find them to be more on the ballad-y (yes, that is a word. not really) side, except for this song. When they first debuted in 2000, their name was Moon Child. After one of the members left, the 3 remaining guys in the band changed the name to M.C. the Max.

Epik High Members:Tablo: Born in Seoul on July 22, 1980. His family relocated several times to Indonesia, Switzerland and HK until Tablo was six, when his family returned to South Korea. His family moved to Canada when he was eight. Tablo attended St. George’s until he was expelled due to trouble in 9th grade (LOL so like Tablo to do that). He then returned to Seoul and spent three years in Seoul International School. In 2002, Tablo graduated from Stanford University in California with a masters degree in English Lit. He played the piano when he was six, and switched to violin, which he played for 10 years. However, he ceased to play violin as he was dismissed from the orchestra after suddenly playing the soundtrack of Jurassic Park (WHAT?!?! HAHA) while the orchestra was playing Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in a concert. He got married last year, 2009, to Korean actress Kang Hye-jeong, and they are expecting their first child in the middle of 2010.“So many songs, on a daily basis, flood the ears of the public with titillating words like ‘seduction’ and ‘sexy’. Before writing the lyrics to “map the soul’ we made a short list of the words that are getting increasingly difficult to hear in this time and age. Words we would like to hear more often on the radio…Dying words: soul, eternity, destiny, gratitude, sincerity, peace, inspiration, faith, passion, beauty, music……” -Tablo
(after reading that quote from him, i was definately inspired and awed.)
Mithra: Met Tablo at poetry readings, as he was a poet whose poems also worked as rhymes.
DJ Tukutz: First got into DJ-ing in the summer of 1995 while spending his time at illegal raves and warehouse parties, where his passion for the scene and music began. He started playing at local raves and parties in Japan’s underground hip-hop scene, before moving up to South Korea in 2000 to attend the Technics DJ School. After returning from the academy, he partnered up with Tablo and headed to the States. He worked and DJ-ed on radio shows, live events and clubs around the Boston and New York City area.
“After our special album ‘Epilogue’ reached the number one spot on the iTunes hip-hop album chart, a CNN reporter flew all the way to Korea to meet with me personally. ” (‘Epilogue‘ was released on March 9th, and attained the #1 spot on iTunes the very next day.)
This definately proves how amazing Epik High really is.

These songs are deep. I have so much respect for this guy. k-os, pronounced "chaos," stands for "Knowledge of Self." His real name is Kevin Brereton, though he later adopted Kheaven as his first name. k-os is a Canadian hip hop artist who writes, raps, sings, and produces. I consider his music to be legit. He likes having a positive message in his songs, and he has also written songs criticizing how mainstream hip hop is about fame, money, violence. He also mixes genres like funk, rock, and reggae into his music. He has often performed with an acoustic guitar or keyboard. His first release was in 1993, but he withdrew from the music industry in 1996 because he didn't like his music style. k-os came back in 2002, hit Platinum status with the album, and has been releasing music since.

Cool iPad cases
These are cases that I would get If I got an iPad. But yeah i’m not getting one, maybe one to review.
Sculptastic.
Sculptor Claire Morgan from Belfast created these sculptures in movement. They’re held up by nylon threads and were probably a pain to craft, but the beauty of the results are fantastic. She uses feathers, birds, strawberries, and other unique materials to accentuate the meaning behind her artwork.

This girl is WEIRD. She has a reallyyyy unique style, andd she can dance. This video is pretty cool, except for the body building chicks that scare me. a lot.
My friend introduced me to Lykke Li's music when she first came out with her album, and I loved it. Let's see. Her full name is Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson. Lykke is Swedish, which accounts for the interesting accent. Her mother was an artist, and her father was a musician. She got double the creative artsy genes. She's done some collabs/covers with artists like Drake, Kings of Leon, and Kleerup. She's been popping up in random places and gaining popularity. Apparently, this song was in Sorority Row? and she was asked to write a song for the New Moon soundtrack, which she reluctantly did .
